Update: Microsoft is no longer supporting Windows RT Surface devices or the Windows RT OS. But if you happen to still have one, these instructions still work.

Copy and Paste on Microsoft Surface Via Touch or Keyboard

Tap and hold the first word of text you want to copy until you see a circle icon, then move your finger to highlight the text you want. Or, if you’re using the keyboard, highlight the text as you normally would.

Tap the highlighted text again or right-click on the Trackpad and select the Copy box.

Now open the app you want to paste the text you just copied; in this case, it’s Mail. In the message body, tap and hold or right-click, and a toolbar appears; tap the Paste icon.

Or, if you were copying text from IE 10 and pasting it into Word, you’ll get the following menu bar via touch — tap Paste.

Or, with the keyboard, you’ll get the menu you’re used to on a PC.
