Windows 10 May 2020 Update

This new version of Windows 10 comes with a bunch of new incremental improvements and updates. Some of the new features include a new Cortana app, Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2), Windows Search improvements, renaming virtual desktops, Accessibility improvements, Notepad improvements, new Settings options, and more. The new Windows 10 May 2020 Update is available in the usual ways including via the Media Creation tool, Update Assistant, and through Windows Update.

Install Windows 10 May 2020 Update through Windows Update

The easiest way for most people to receive this update is to go through Windows Update. You can get there by heading to Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update and click Check for Updates. Note that it is only going to be available here if your system is ready for it. Microsoft isn’t just pushing this update out on everyone right now. If Windows Update detects that your system is able to handle the new update it will be offered to you after checking for updates. According to the official blog post: If it is available, you will need to download and install it and restart your system to complete the update process. All in all, it should take about a half-hour to complete. If you don’t want to wait for Windows Update to decide when you’re offered the May 2020 Update, then you can use the Media Creation Tool or Update Assistant. Just note that you could have issues with your system if installing it that way. The confusing naming of this update aside, it is a solid one. It includes some interesting new features and you can download and install it now.
