Here is a list of the fixes and improvements included in this latest update:
Addresses an issue in Internet Explorer that might cause communication between web workers to fail in certain asynchronous scenarios with multiple visits to a web page.Addresses additional issues with updated time zone information.Addresses an issue where closed-caption settings are preserved after upgrade.Addresses a reliability issue that may cause Microsoft Edge or other applications to stop responding when you create a new audio endpoint while audio or video playback is starting.Addresses an issue that may cause Windows Hello enrollment to fail on certain hardware that has dGPUs.Addresses an issue with power regression on systems with NVMe devices from certain vendors.
If you’re running 1803 you should get the update automatically within a few days, or if you want to stay on top of things head to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update. Or, you can download the stand-alone version from Microsoft Update Catalog and manually install it. There are a few known issues with this update, so make sure to read the full developer notes for the symptoms and workarounds. Remember, a restart will be required to complete the install process. After it is finished, and you log back in, hit the Windows Key and type: winver and hit Enter. You will see that your build number has been bumped up to 17134.81.
If you are still holding off on updating to 1803, you might want to consider still doing so. While there are fixes for some of the known hardware issues with 1803 (including SSDs), this might not be “magic” update that will fix issues so many people are experiencing – namely app and driver issues. If you are still running Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, you should check out the cumulative update KB4103714 released for it earlier this week for the Fall Creators Update. Windows Update shows no Update history, and I don’t think I can go back to a previous version of windows!. I clicked on ‘help’ in windows update and I quickly had text help from a microsoft rep, after some time I allowed him to take control of my computer (a strange experience) various windows and commands flashed up but it ended with the rep’ basically telling on me that microsoft was aware of the problem and was working on it!. Which leaves me with a computer I either can’t update or I’m afraid to update because I might be left with a computer that doesn’t work at all!.
